The Saw Mill Association (SMA) welcomes the twenty two (22) new residents who joined our neighborhood over the past two years. You all certainly know by now what a terrific area we all live in: taking a casual stroll, walking your dog and meeting other residents, enjoying the abutting nature conservancy, holiday get-togethers, annual block party, Halloween tables for the kids, “Doggie Parade”, and the Easter Egg Hunt just to name a few.
Our Saw Mill neighborhood continues to be one of the best areas in Stamford, and our SMA Board works hard to keep it that way. We used our City of Stamford Neighborhood grant funds to install 4 park benches around the neighborhood, and doggie “poop” stations on either end of the conservancy. We maintain the beauty of our front entry; we make sure that our Facebook and SawmillAssociation.com and Directory files
keep everyone “connected”; and that the business side of things (insurance) is taken care of.
Our fiscal year begins in January, so we kick off our annual SMA dues collection effort to help fund everything. The dues are the same as last year - $90 if paid before 3/31 and $110 thereafter. There are multiple ways to pay……
- Pay by credit card or PayPal on the Saw Mill website:
- Pay using Venmo:
- Send to “SMAssociation”
- Pay by check, payable to Saw Mill Association, and drop-off or mail to:
- George Dallas, SMA Treasurer, 125 Dundee Road
Note: We have 3 board members cycling off midyear (June), and we are looking for residents to fill those open positions. Please contact a board member if interested.
We look forward to a new year of events and seeing you all in the neighborhood!
All the Best,
Marty Vahsen

Saw Mill Association Committees
How do YOU want to be involved?
We have plenty of ways for you to be involved. have a look at our committees and see where your passion lies!
Membership:
The Membership Committee helps encourage neighbors to be part of all that's happening in Saw Mill. When new neighbors move in, we bring them a welcome basket, a directory, and a smile. We constantly talk with residents about the great value our Association adds, and encourages everone to join. This committee also assists the Treasurer with the collection of dues.
Social:
The social committee plans the three big events we hold every year:
- Annual Block Party
- Trick-or-Treat Launch Party
- Adult Winter Open House
Always open to new ideas, the more we can do together, the better! Want more? Jump on board and help us plan it!
Emergency:
Power outage? Need refrigeration for medicines or other vital items? Need heat, a shower, a place to work temporarily? Do you have kids, elderly, or people with other needs in your house? We have a list of volunteers with generators who will graciously help out. The more people who volunteer to help, the better, so let us know if you'd like to be a "Home Base" on the Emergency Committee.
Public Works:
This vital committee is our official link to the City of Stamford, State Government, and utility companies. Projects we have brought to fruition include the rebuilding of Saw Mill, Dundee, the Timber Mills, MIll Stream, and Forestwood Drive. We also ensured that Old Orchard and Forestwood would never be connected, and the City has enforced it. Road repairs, speed analysis, line painting, curb/corner redesign, and other city services are enhanced by our connection via this committee.
Legal:
When there are legal questions facing the SMA, our Legal Committee is ready to help. If you are an attorney living here, please contact us if you would like to lend a hand.
